In his inaugural address for his second term, President Obama brought up immigration reform as a point of focus for the next four years. Specifically, he stated that “No single person can…build the roads and networks and research labs that will bring new jobs and businesses to our shores.” The President is looking to revitalize American infrastructure to attract foreign talent and investment.
Furthermore, Mr. Obama repeated his call for new immigration policy for the country. He said that America’s “journey is not complete until we find a better way to welcome the striving, hopeful immigrants who still see America as a land of opportunity; until bright young students and engineers are enlisted in our workforce rather than expelled from our country.” In other words, the President is pushing for immigration laws that will allow new talent to come to our country without hurting those already employed in the United States.
